Keeping an ear to the ground: TF Solutions visits InstallerSHOW

In late June, our senior leadership team headed to the Midlands to visit the UK’s leading trade show for installers and specifiers, InstallerSHOW.

From the latest Mitsubishi Electric VRF to the launch of the Samsung Climate Club, we discovered what new products and services are drumming up excitement in the RACHP market.

We’re giving you a quick snapshot of our ideas for improving the products, training, and technical services TF Solutions offer to help you complete projects to a standard you can be proud of as we continue through the peak summer season. We’ve shared our main takeaways and InstallerSHOW highlights below.

InstallerSHOW in a nutshell

InstallerSHOW brings together the best of heat, water, air, energy and the built environment for RACHP professionals. This year saw over 800 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors across three packed days of demos, displays, and conversations.

All our main suppliers exhibited at NEC, including Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, and Samsung. Lots of the TF Solutions product range was on display, from residential, commercial, and industrial air conditioning systems to heat pumps and ancillaries.

Getting the inside scoop on RACHP products

InstallerSHOW is always a hub of activity, with the latest product innovations on display for visitors to explore and see in action.

It was the second time attending InstallerSHOW for our Head of Technical, Tommy Gardner. He enjoyed the opportunity to meet with our current suppliers – as well as scope out potential future ones. “InstallerSHOW is a great event for manufacturers and suppliers to show off their current wares and tease what’s to come.

“We had a fantastic time visiting all our current suppliers, but we also made a point to visit other suppliers who deliver similar products to do some market research, and keep our finger on the pulse of where the industry’s headed.”

Tommy felt inspired to boost TF Solutions’ technical and training services; “Several of the training providers, but also the different businesses out there, are offering many different things, whether that’s training in a classroom or hands-on training with products onsite.

“It’s good to have a mix of training and service options. We’re always looking for areas where we can improve and expand our knowledge at TF Solutions across the technical teams, teams out on the road, and branch teams.

“Going to events like InstallerSHOW helps us learn even more about our customers’ needs from the equipment and from us as a supplier. The more we can do, the more knowledgeable we can be as a business, the better our service will be.”

Event highlights

Some of the best bits of InstallerSHOW included:

New VRF

Mitsubishi Electric gave teasers on a brand new full-range VRF system operating using R32 refrigerant, which can be used in their larger models. A suite of new features come built-in where they’ve previously been paid extras. We’re excited to train our teams early on that product, ground them in a strong knowledge base, allowing us to then be a helpful guide for our customers when it launches next year.

Reward clubs

Samsung announced its new loyalty scheme, giving us a first look at the Samsung Climate Club. The great thing about the rewards scheme is that you can earn points from the manufacturer scheme when you buy their wares through TF Solutions, and then earn points through our own rewards scheme, TF Rewards Club – which all adds up!

Creative exhibits

You can’t help but enjoy seeing the energy and innovation within the industry at events like this. Exhibitors put on engaging displays – like Danfoss, who had a fantastic Back to the Future stand with the DeLorean time machine and a lookalike Marty McFly and Doc. And Mitsubishi Electric had a mini-golf game which was also educational, where you earn points by correctly answering questions on 10 different products.

Tommy and the leadership team came away having identified key opportunities to grow our product offerings to include more ancillaries and hybrid VRFs, which add water into the mix.

Tommy shared, “We’ve set up different working groups to expand our product ranges in different areas – air conditioning, refrigeration and gases, spares and tooling. So, watch this space because InstallerSHOW’s definitely given us food for thought and ideas to consider for the future.”
